## Abstract

WIA-EDU-018 defines comprehensive standards for metaverse platforms, covering virtual world interoperability, avatar systems, digital asset ownership, virtual economies, cross-platform compatibility, and governance. This standard enables seamless connectivity between diverse metaverse platforms while ensuring user sovereignty, privacy, and true digital ownership.

## 1. Introduction

### 1.1 Purpose

This standard provides:
- Universal protocols for virtual world interconnectivity
- Avatar format specifications and identity standards
- Digital asset ownership and NFT integration
- Virtual economy and transaction frameworks
- Cross-platform rendering and compatibility
- Privacy, security, and governance guidelines

### 1.2 Scope

This standard applies to:
- Educational metaverse platforms
- Social virtual worlds
- Gaming and entertainment environments
- Enterprise and workplace metaverses
- Virtual commerce and marketplaces
- Cultural and creative spaces

- **Metaverse**: Persistent, interconnected network of 3D virtual worlds
- **Avatar**: User's digital representation in virtual spaces
- **Portal**: Connection point between different virtual worlds
- **NFT**: Non-fungible token representing unique digital asset ownership
- **DID**: Decentralized Identifier for self-sovereign identity
- **Virtual Economy**: System for value exchange in virtual environments
