## Abstract

WIA-EDU-015 defines a comprehensive standard for educational metaverse platforms, covering virtual campus design, avatar systems, 3D learning environments, virtual field trips, collaborative tools, VR/AR integration, and learning analytics. This standard enables interoperability between educational metaverse platforms and provides best practices for delivering immersive, engaging, and accessible learning experiences.

## 1. Introduction

### 1.1 Purpose

This standard provides:
- Unified APIs for metaverse components
- 3D environment and asset specifications
- Avatar system protocols
- Social interaction frameworks
- Virtual field trip standards
- Analytics and assessment specifications
- Accessibility and safety guidelines

### 1.2 Scope

This standard applies to:
- K-12 and higher education institutions
- Corporate training and professional development
- Virtual museums and cultural institutions
- Language learning platforms
- STEM education and virtual laboratories
- Global collaborative learning initiatives

### 1.3 Definitions

- **Educational Metaverse**: Persistent 3D virtual environment for learning
- **Virtual Campus**: 3D space representing educational institution
- **Avatar**: Digital representation of user in metaverse
- **Field Trip**: Guided immersive experience to locations/phenomena
- **Learning Lab**: Virtual space for experiments and simulations
- **Social Learning Space**: Area designed for peer interaction
- **Spatial Audio**: 3D positional sound based on proximity and direction

This standard embodies the Korean principle of 홍익인간 (Hongik Ingan) - benefiting all humanity. The educational metaverse democratizes access to world-class learning experiences regardless of geography, economic status, or physical limitations.

## 4. Performance Requirements

### 4.1 Frame Rate Targets
- **VR:** 72 FPS minimum, 90 FPS recommended, 120 FPS optimal
- **Desktop:** 60 FPS minimum
- **Mobile:** 30 FPS minimum

### 4.2 Latency Requirements
- **Motion-to-Photon (VR):** < 20ms

- **Network Latency:** < 150ms for real-time interaction
