## 📖 Overview

The **WIA Digital Identity Standard (WIA-FIN-010)** provides a comprehensive framework for implementing self-sovereign digital identity systems using Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs), Verifiable Credentials (VCs), zero-knowledge proofs, biometric authentication, and electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) processes.

This standard enables:
- ✅ **User-Controlled Identity:** You own and control your digital identity
- ✅ **Privacy by Design:** Share only what's necessary, nothing more
- ✅ **Interoperability:** Works across platforms, services, and borders
- ✅ **Security:** Cryptographically secure and tamper-proof
- ✅ **Compliance:** eKYC/AML ready, GDPR/CCPA compliant
- ✅ **Universal Access:** Financial inclusion for the unbanked

### Philosophy

## 🆔 Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs)

### What are DIDs?

Decentralized Identifiers are globally unique identifiers that you create and control without permission from any central authority. Unlike email addresses or usernames owned by platforms, DIDs are yours forever.

### DID Methods Supported

| Method | Description | Use Case |
|--------|-------------|----------|
| `did:ethr` | Ethereum-based | Ethereum ecosystem, DeFi |
| `did:key` | Key-derived | Simple, offline use |
| `did:web` | Web-based | Organizations with domains |
| `did:ion` | Bitcoin-anchored | High security |
| `did:sov` | Sovrin ledger | Enterprise SSI |
| `did:peer` | Peer-to-peer | Private relationships |

### Creating DIDs

```typescript
// Ethereum DID
const ethDID = await identity.createDID({
  method: 'ethr',
  network: 'mainnet'
});
// Result: did:ethr:0x3b0BC51Ab9De1e5B7B6E34E5b960285805C41736
// Key-based DID (simplest)
const keyDID = await identity.createDID({
  method: 'key',
  keyType: 'Ed25519'
});
// Result: did:key:z6MkpTHR8VNsBxYAAWHut2Geadd9jSwuBV8xRoAnwWsdvktH
// Web DID (for organizations)
const webDID = await identity.createDID({
  method: 'web',
  domain: 'example.com'
});
// Result: did:web:example.com
```

### Resolving DIDs

```typescript
const resolution = await identity.resolveDID('did:ethr:0x3b0BC51...');
console.log(resolution.didDocument);
// {
//   "@context": ["https://www.w3.org/ns/did/v1"],
//   "id": "did:ethr:0x3b0BC51...",
//   "authentication": [...],
//   "assertionMethod": [...],
//   "keyAgreement": [...]
// }
```

---

## 📜 Verifiable Credentials

### What are Verifiable Credentials?

Tamper-proof digital credentials with cryptographic signatures. Like physical credentials (diplomas, licenses, IDs) but digital, instantly verifiable, and user-controlled.

### Credential Types

- **Education:** University degrees, certificates, transcripts
- **Identity:** Government IDs, driver's licenses, passports
- **Financial:** KYC credentials, credit scores, bank accounts
- **Professional:** Licenses, certifications, employment
- **Health:** Vaccination records, medical credentials

### Issuing Credentials

```typescript
const credential = await identity.issueCredential({
  issuer: 'did:example:university',
  credentialSubject: {
    id: 'did:example:student',
    degree: {
      type: 'BachelorDegree',
      name: 'Bachelor of Science',
      gpa: 3.85,
      graduationDate: '2023-05-15'
    }
  },
  type: ['VerifiableCredential', 'UniversityDegreeCredential'],
  expirationDate: '2028-05-14T23:59:59Z'
});
```

### Verifying Credentials

```typescript
const result = await identity.verifyCredential(credential, {
  checkStatus: true,
  checkExpiration: true,
  checkIssuerTrust: true
});
if (result.verified) {
  console.log('Credential is valid!');
  console.log('Signature:', result.checks.signature);
  console.log('Not expired:', result.checks.expiration);
  console.log('Not revoked:', result.checks.revocation);
}
```

### Selective Disclosure

Share only specific attributes, hide the rest:

```typescript
// Student can prove they have a degree without revealing GPA
const presentation = await identity.createPresentation({
  holder: 'did:example:student',
  verifiableCredentials: [credential],
  selectiveDisclosure: {
    reveal: ['degree.type', 'degree.name'],
    hide: ['degree.gpa', 'degree.graduationDate']
  },
  challenge: 'nonce_from_verifier'
});
```

---

## 🛡️ Zero-Knowledge Proofs

### Prove Without Revealing

Zero-knowledge proofs let you prove facts about yourself without revealing underlying data:

- Prove age > 18 without revealing exact birthdate
- Prove income in range without revealing exact salary
- Prove credential validity without showing full credential
- Prove group membership without revealing identity

### Age Verification Example

```typescript
// Prove you're over 18 without revealing birthdate
const ageProof = await identity.generateAgeProof({
  birthdate: '1995-06-15',  // Private, never shared
  minimumAge: 18
});
// Verifier checks proof
const isValid = await identity.verifyZKProof(ageProof);
console.log('Over 18:', isValid);  // true
// Verifier learns ONLY: "age >= 18"
// Verifier NEVER learns: actual birthdate, exact age
```

### Range Proofs

```typescript
// Prove income in range for loan qualification
const incomeProof = await identity.generateRangeProof({
  value: 75000,              // Private
  minimum: 50000,            // Required range
  maximum: 100000
});
```

---

## 👤 Biometric Authentication

### Supported Biometrics

- **Facial Recognition:** Front-facing camera
- **Fingerprint:** Touch sensor
- **Iris Scan:** Specialized cameras
- **Voice Recognition:** Microphone
- **Behavioral:** Typing patterns, gait

### Enrollment

```typescript
const enrollment = await identity.enrollBiometric({
  did: 'did:example:user',
  modality: 'facial',
  biometricData: base64EncodedImage,
  livenessProof: {
    type: 'LivenessProof',
    method: 'passive',
    timestamp: new Date().toISOString(),
    confidence: 0.98,
    indicators: {
      textureAnalysis: true,
      depthSensing: true,
      microExpressions: true
    }
  }
});
console.log('Biometric enrolled:', enrollment.templateId);
```

### Verification

```typescript
const verification = await identity.verifyBiometric({
  did: 'did:example:user',
  modality: 'facial',
  biometricData: base64EncodedSelfie,
  livenessProof: livenessDetectionResult
});
console.log('Verified:', verification.verified);
console.log('Confidence:', verification.confidence);  // 0.98 (98%)
console.log('Match Score:', verification.matchScore); // 0.95 (95%)
```

### Privacy Protection

- **Template Protection:** Irreversible mathematical transformations
- **Cancelable Biometrics:** Generate new templates if compromised
- **On-Device Processing:** Raw biometrics never leave your device

## 📋 eKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer)

### What is eKYC?

Digital identity verification for financial services compliance. Required by law to prevent fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing.

### KYC Levels

| Level | Requirements | Use Cases |
|-------|--------------|-----------|
| **Level 1** | Basic info (name, DOB, address) | Low-value accounts (< $1000) |
| **Level 2** | Document verification + selfie | Standard accounts (< $10k) |
| **Level 3** | Enhanced due diligence, source of funds | High-value accounts |
| **Level 4** | Continuous monitoring, sanctions screening | Institutional, high-risk |

### eKYC Process

```typescript
// 1. Initiate KYC
const session = await identity.initiateKYC({
  did: 'did:example:user',
  level: 2,
  documentType: 'passport',
  countryCode: 'US'
});
console.log('Upload URL:', session.uploadUrl);
// 2. Submit documents
await identity.submitKYCDocuments(session.sessionId, {
  document: passportImage,
  selfie: selfieImage
});
// 3. Check status
const status = await identity.getKYCStatus(session.sessionId);
if (status.status === 'approved') {
  console.log('KYC Level:', status.level);
  console.log('Credential:', status.credential);
}
```

### What Happens During eKYC?

1. **Document Verification:** OCR extracts data, validates security features
2. **Biometric Matching:** Selfie compared to document photo
3. **Liveness Detection:** Ensures real person, not photo/video
4. **Database Checks:** Verify against government databases
5. **Sanctions Screening:** Check watchlists (OFAC, UN, etc.)
6. **Risk Assessment:** Algorithmic fraud detection
7. **Credential Issuance:** Issue KYC credential if approved

## 👛 Digital Wallets

### What is an SSI Wallet?

Your digital wallet stores DIDs, credentials, and cryptographic keys. Like a physical wallet but for digital identity.

### Creating a Wallet

```typescript
const wallet = await identity.createWallet({
  ownerDid: 'did:example:user',
  backupMethod: 'encrypted_cloud'
});
console.log('Wallet ID:', wallet.walletId);
console.log('Recovery Phrase:', wallet.recoveryPhrase);
// IMPORTANT: Save this recovery phrase securely!
```

### Managing Credentials

```typescript
// Store credential
await identity.storeCredential(
  wallet.walletId,
  universityDegreeCredential,
  ['education', 'university', 'degree']
);
// List all credentials
const credentials = await identity.listCredentials(wallet.walletId);
// Filter by type
const degrees = await identity.listCredentials(wallet.walletId, {
  type: 'UniversityDegreeCredential'
});
// Delete credential
await identity.deleteCredential(wallet.walletId, credentialId);
```

---
